Are your additions to Intel iBook (Rumored) really necessary? They're mostly just repeating what's already been stated earlier in the article, and are misleadingly definitive for a rumor.

    Per wikipedia, 1 Petabyte = 1000 terabytes

The better tidbit from Wikipedia is that Data from Star Trek had a capacity of 100 petabytes. So, Apple has a ways to go until they get something really interesting. iData?

Petabytes didn't exist in my dictionary until today. Thank you, MacRumors.

And it's a new one for the dictionary in Chrome on Windows, too. Petabyte gets the little red squiggly underline. But Safari on the Mac is hip to the lingo and knew the spelling.

The oil embargo was caused by the invasion of Japan to Indochina.....

actually the embargo was a belated response to the japanese invasion of china in 1937 (Shanghai 250,00 chinese killed, Nanking with another 250,00 chinese killed), japan's attack on the soviets in 1938, japan's alliances with nazi germany (the anti-comintern pact in 1936 as an example), the start of WW2 in europe, etc

Among other things we basically placed them under an oil embargo their need for natural resources and they're inability to attain them from us in a peaceful manner encouraged them to invade.....

nope; that was japan's propaganda to justify the attack but it's a fantasy. The embargo was in response to japanese military invasions in asia and its alliance with nazi germany. WW2 had already started in europe before the embargo against the japanese was put in place.

    Hi All,

First off I am new here, so Hi again

I have a small problem getting Microsoft Outlook 2001 to use my 2003 Exchange server. I have to admit I am new to macs and am finding it a little hard to do anything but I am trying.

From what I can tell is that for some reason my the mac will not resolve the server name to an ip address. I mean when I look in the Outlook settings, under services --> properties if I place the servers IP address there and then the user name and then 'check the name' it resolves the name of the server and under lines the user name (which as far as I am concerned has worked).

Yet when I then launch Outlook I get a message saying folders could not be opened. The attempt to log on to the server failed..... Microdoft Outlook could not be started. The attempt to log on to the MS Exchange Server failed....................

What I have done so far:-
Updated the /etc/hosts file and added the ip address for the server (can ping both IP and name from the console and network util)
When in Outlook settings --> properties and user the server name instead of the IP address and try and check name I get an error.. The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the MS Exchange Server, Contact your system adminsitrator (me).

Sorry for the long post but this is a real problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Ian

PS The only thing I can sort of think of at the moment is that Outlook starts I think in classic mode??? I am not sure if this starts a new shell and therefore ignores the /etc/hosts file and that is the reason why it can not resolve the server name. If I am right my next question would be where is the hosts file for the classic enviroment??

I'm looking to copy a NPR feed tomorrow (Saturday) night, so I checked out the Wiretap link from the first page. Times have changed, it seems, and now there is only Wiretap Pro, which costs $20. Is there another (free) program available that will allow me to record a netradio feed?

    Thanks.

You might think my comment was stupid, or perhaps ludicrous, but please explain to me what about it was ignorant?

Not sure what's "ignorant" about it. My wife is so excited. She can't wait. Why wouldn't people think the white iPhone would appeal to women?

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this, but, while it's a cool demo, I'd probably never use this. The iPad would have to reach at least the amount of control and sensitivity of a Cintiq to make this useful. So it's cool that Adobe is working on it, and maybe with future revs of hardware, the iPad will get to that point (I really hope it does). But it all still seems like finger painting to me until you have control with some sort of drawing utensil. The funny thing is, Steve Jobs - the man who spouts and gushes over creating tools by artists for artists, and - is the one man leading the fight against any sort of stylus for use with the iDevices. While I agree with him on use throughout the iOS interface, all artists are NOT created equal. I've seen fantastic work by some of the guys using their fingers with those paint programs, but I'd say for the majority of artists out there, the real key is going to be getting a stylus that works properly in a drawing or painting app on the iOS.

At the studio I work at, the day the iPad was announced, there were about 40 people that were willing to blow up to $1k on the iPad had it come out with some sort of stylus support - not for interface, but for drawing. These are people that use Cintiqs day in and day out. When the price point of $499 was announced their jaws dropped in unison. SOLD! But when no stylus was announced and when Jobs said "If you are using a stylus, you are doing it wrong", there was a collective sigh and gnashing of teeth. Not a single person purchased one.

So while it was a cool demo, it's still a hard sell to people who do this stuff all day, everyday for a living. Let's see a real stylus for artwork from Apple that is meant to work with the touchscreen on iOS and let's see it blow everything else away!

Until then, maybe this is the best we can hope for.

    The Cosmonaut (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danprovost/the-cosmonaut-a-wide-grip-stylus-for-touch-screens)

I agree with most of what you're saying... but I think it's adobe's goal to push the most creative software on whatever they can. It's Apple's goal to provide the best experience for most people. Way more people are interested in using an iPad without a stylus - why sacrifice all those people for the minority of artists.

You want to draw, grab a wacom and mac.
