Hi Friends.
I got the pink slip 3 weeks back with one month severance. So my target was to secure the job in one month to avoid loss of pay. Finally secured the job with 3 offers from 3 top companies.
Some tips if it may be helpful to others , that I recently expereinced
1. Read your resume thoroughly and see if there are anything that you can improve and make the resume with the core skills, do not make the resume of mix of different profiles, like dba, architect, project manager, make them all seperate.
2. Try to make the submission to the direct employer or recruiter on top of the chain. You can do that finding contacts on linked in.
3. Do not compromise a lot, this makes these recruiters to think that you are vulnerable for any exploitation, (happened with me, I kicked there butt after getting selected and telling them on why did I do that)

Thanks for the responses...My email as you see in the first message is neither "Welcome" nor a CPO.
So am I unique....unwelcomed approval.....strange...even in this there is no standard format or routine....

Yes i did. It was the same way for my dad when i was on H-1B.
I sent him the copies of my 140, 485, and EAD and also an employment letter from my new employer , as i have used AC-21.
He was asked what i am doing and he told them i am working for XYX company and has also filed his GC. The office said all the best to him and granted my dad a 10 year multiple visa. If you have any questions, please send me a message.

We can even say yes she had it but lost it over there so i mail her the document. right?
Once AP is approved, you can travel and have someone here send it to you. I have personally done that without a problem. I left the country and a friend of mine brought the document. A couple of my other friends followed my example, travelled without the document in hand and none of us have had a problem.

SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE!!!!
My employer got back to me today & informed me that based on the advise of the attorney they will not be providing me a copy of the I-140. He understands that I can leave the company anytime & that he would never hold me back. My question is if there is any other way of getting a copy of the I-140? Is a copy of either the approval notice or the receipt number critical?

As many of us get ready to use AC21 to switch from current employers, i wanted to get your feed back on a very common contartual obligation.
My contract with my desi consultant basically says
"Agreement Not to Compete. While I am employed by Employer, and for ONE years/ 12 months afterward, I will not directly or indirectly participate in a business in a similar capacity that is similar to a business now or later operated by Employer in the same geographical area. This includes participating in my own business or as a co-owner, director, officer, consultant, independent contractor, employee or agent of another business.
In particular, I will not:
(i) Solicit or attempt to solicit any business or trade from Employer's actual or prospective customers or clients; or
(ii) Divert or attempt to divert business away from Employer;"
Now my employer had nothing to do with me getting my clients, i do my own marketing and negotiationas, but of course the employer signs on all the papers. Will i still have to change clients when i switch employer?

If this happens, there will be some other type of insurance for the bank accounts that will be set up at that time, btw , if your money is in any of the sensitive banks it is better to move it out to more stable banks.

I think, passage of Frist bill with no 'guest worker' provisions for 'undocumented workers' or a separate bill altogether dedicated to legal immigration provisions are our safest bets.
Any thoughts?
This bill if passed in the senate will NOT go to the house. It will go to the house and senate joint conference committee where a sensible common ground is found. This will save house reps who can say that they voted against amenesty while still having a bill passed.
The danger right now is that Kyle and others who are against amnesty (that is what even I would call it!) are trying to put in amendments that would be the poison-pill that will bring the whole bill down. It is very likely that no bill may pass the senate. If the democrats try to gain the 51% vote to end debate and vote on the existing bill, the only tool with republicans is to use the fillibuster and then the democrats will need 61 votes to overcome it which they don't have.

Here is the Diwali story as told in 21st Century in US by Indians.

But, like, his step-mom, or something, was kind of a bitch, and she forced her husband to, like, send this cool-dude, he was Ram, to some national forest or something... . Since he was going, for like, something like more than 10 years or so.... he decided to get his wife and his bro along... you know...so that they could all chill out together. But Dude, the forest was reeeeal scary shit... really man...they had monkeys and devil s and shit like that. But this dude, Ram, kicked with darts and bows and arrows... so it was fine.

But then some bad gangsta boys, some jerk called Ravan, picks up his babe (Sita) and lures her away to his hood. And boy, was our man, and also his bro, Laxman, pissed... all the gods were with him... So anyways, you don't mess with gods. So, Ram, and his bro get an army of monkeys... So,they deci ded to hitch a ride back home... and when the people realize that our dude, his bro and the wife are back home... they thought, well, you know, at least they deserve something nice... and they didn't have any bars or clubs in those days... so they couldn't take them out for a drink, so they, like, decided to smoke and shit... and since they also had some lamps, they lit the lamps also...so it was pretty cooool... you know with all those fireworks... . Really, they even had some local band play along with the fireworks... and you know, what, dude, that was the very first, no kidding.., thatwas the very first music-synchronized fireworks... you know, like the 4th of July stuff, but just, more cooler and stuff, you know. And, so dude,
that was how, like, this festival started."
Sentiments aside, at least you could have got the story right. That is not why Diwali is celebrated. So, may be get the story correctly before even trying jokes.

EAD Renewal can be filed if EAD has expired or will expire within 120 days. The process is the same for both and can be done on your own - Its really simple
If you efile you have to go for biometrics. If you paper file you need to send photos. I don't think there is much difference in the time for approval

what if 140 is approved, have got EAD card but dont want to use EAD until 485 gets approved?
