Hi,
Just to give a quick backstory; I spent years going back to school for design and at last I've finally acquired my degree. I now have a budding freelance business with a handful of small clients, all of whom are relatively civil, good natured and appreciative of my work.
Recently a long distance client I really get along with referred me to someone. He hired me to do a logo for his marketing startup. He was pleased with the end result and asked me to take on a second project, designing a mockup for a website that he could then turn over to a developer. He set a time limit of 3 hours, because that's all he could afford. Everything was going fine till about 2 hours in. He liked the direction I was going in, so while I was waiting to hear back I did some small revisions (off the clock), just to satisfy my own design sensibilities. I sent them to him to see what he thought. He suddenly calls me saturday afternoon and from the get go, seems to have an attitude. He wants to go over all the revisions I sent him. So I scramble for my macbook. As I'm going through my folders in search of the files he starts getting flustered and belittling. I offer to call him back in an hour after I've gathered everything and before one of us says something we'll regret, but he wants to stay on the phone and takes an even more offensive tone. I'm a laid back guy, but I had enough and firmly reminded him that I was trying to design a site for him within a 3 hour limit and had been good enough to not bill him for all the phone time he insisted on and had even stopped the clock a couple of times. He then startled to backpedal and complimented me on my work and how fair my pricing was ($25.00 an hour). The conversation went on for about another half hour as in the aftermath we awkwardly discussed the project. I think I did a pretty good job of remaining diplomatic. I've now just about completed the project and now he's talking about having me design a business card:rolleyes: The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. I know there can always be an element of stress with any type of work is, but that was a bit much.
Sorry for the rant, but I felt like I needed to vent to fellow designers. Anyone else have any horror stories?:)
My advice as a designer - CUT & RUN!

Web designers will just have to become more sophisticated. They will have to learn to work with relative units. For example a button size should be specified as "m times the lenght of this string in the current user specified font" and a image size rather then being fixed might be "80% in the frames width as set by the user
The would... If the browsers (not to mention IE) could properly implement the "basic standards" for once... :(

it should be ok if you dont play with it and streacth it or watever you might think of doing with it, just use your ipod like a normal person and it should be ok.

Well..
I'd like to see BR players or HD-DVD players becoming standard at right price just like DVD players.
However, I don't see BR or HD-DVD as my backup media.
I'd rather use several external hard disk due to cheap price/ gig and easy of use.
I wonder how long does it take to burn a BR (or HD-DVD) with that new version of Toast

The keynote was terrible.
It's called "MacWorld" yet there was nothing in there about the mac. Just this little toy that dosn't really interest me that much called the "iPhone" and the "Apple TV".
I completely agree. I'm really wanting them to put up the video stream of the keynote so I can see if MacRumors had it right when they put this on the live coverage feed:

Wowee!! Congratulations!! :p And yeah, other people may have gotten all sorts of gadgets, but no iPad is gonna top a lifelong partner (99 times out of 100 at least :o)
Hahaha, you right, and thanks! My mom got an iPad from my dad, so I get to play with it here and there. Pretty nifty, but I don't know if I would ever drops the money on a big iPhone. :p

Up for sale is an Xbox 360 Core, still sealed, UK PAL. I will ship the the UK, and the UK only. It is currently on eBay here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8240818983). It depends on how you compare android to iOS. I personally get a full day out of my android phone. Thats with texting all day, one class where i am streaming peers papers the entire time. I am on wifi the entire time. I play Gameboy games for much of the day when i am on the bus. I listen to music when i am going around time on my long board. In all my phone is never in real sleep mode. When I first got the phone my battery life was about an two hours to two hours and a half, then I learned to shut off apps. I love the user interface more then apple. Yeah it lags occaisonally but i get to have all my lovely widgets where i can easily access them. I can see what my next apointment is just by unlocking my phone. I can read an email simply by swiping left. I can send, read a text message just by swiping right. I love it has every thing I need. If it doesn't work you it won't work but for over a million of us it works perfectly. iOS is not Android and Android is not iOS if it works for you it works for you no need to bash the other. I like iOS I just can't see my self using it as a phone OS.
The beauty of iOS is that it is more then just a phone OS. Flexible to run on Apple TVs, iPod Touches, iPhones and iPads. I also like the fact that Apple designed there application multi-tasking so that developers could decide how heavy they needed the multi-tasking to be. This gives the advantage to using the battery as efficiently as possible. I really do not like how difficult Google made it to kill off background tasks by burying the stop mechanism several levels under the setup.
Two and half hours of battery life is pretty bad and that is exactly what I am getting out the Andriod phones I use and work. I do not have that problem with the iPhone. I can do my work using the iPhone all day and not have to hook it to the charger or worry about killing off back ground tasks.
I can appreciate you not wanting to get into a bashing contest. You do come across a little on the "I am going to set these guys straight" attitude, though.
I will say this, I highly doubt that Android would have anywhere near the saturation that it does now if it were not for the BOGO phone deals that have been going on since Andriod came out. Apple is competing with LG, Google, Motorola, Samsung and HTC all of which are putting out several models of Andriod phones a month and doing the BOGO deals on most of them. I for one am glad Apple does not do that. For one thing BOGO hurts the resale value of the phones. Also, a lot of the manufactures modify the Andriod OS specific to the manufacturers needs. This creates the problem where you have to rely on the manufacturer for the update.
Apple makes it easy. You know when the refresh cycle happens and there is consistency to how the updates are done and it is controlled by one company. Google has created an inconsistent experience for the users. I can tell you first hand that not one of the various Andriod phones I use at work has a consistence interface from one another. I can easily pickup my wifes iPod touch or my iPad or the iPhones at work and they all have the same consistent feel and look to the interface.
