I bought Draytek 2830n router which offers both 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz. When running on 2.4Ghz AirRadar and iStumbler show 65% signal, but when I change to 5.8Ghz signal immediately drops almost by half to 35%.
So question, is Airport N that comes with MP 5.8Ghz compatible? Router is less than half meter in clear range with Mac Pro, so I would rather expect signal close to 100% on both frequencies.
I checked on my wife's Mac Mini and it's the same poor signal.

Yeah U of A's bookstore will be selling it for $69 on launch night only, 6-7PM Friday night. I'll be going there now instead of the Apple store too lol. They're also offering free tshirts to the first 50 people and say that they will be doing leopard demostrations as well.

Good points, thought it might of been a long shot! Just wish I could have an awesome 2GB graphics in a base 999 iMac!
Well you might find the GPU somewhere online later this year, but will it have the mac bios...?

If you want cheap, you can check out the various iHome ones. Check on amazon. I don't know how they are because I don't own any.

As per normal Apple have decided the population have no idea how to use their devices, maybe we should stop buying them and maybe then they will stop being so arrogant. We plant the seed and nurture the seedling but if the tree gets to large we can cut it down.. They should remember that.

I strongly recommend that you buy your PB in the States and don't pay extra for our silly UK prices!
Agreed - particularly given you're only here for a short time.

Thanks Cluthz - thanks for that. Glad it sounds like I'm on the right track. I'm looking around for spares on ebay and will call a couple suppliers on Tuesday after all the bank holidays - I'm in the UK so would prefer to buy from this country.
Grumpy as I was just about to replace the iMac!

welcome! There is an introduce yourself type thread in the
community discussion. It is 'sticky' meaning it is always at the
top of the list. You may want to introduce yourself there.
I hope you enjoy MacRumors! :D

Before I was even to the part where you praised the clip, I was navigating towards the post button to say that the clip is hideous and shouldn't be on there, lol.

Hexic on mine as well. There's a boxed offline Live pack that gives you the games plus some account credit I believe that might be the way to go...

I get my iPod battery replacements on eBay.
I did the same thing for my fifth gen iPod. It worked well for the year between replacing the battery and giving it to a friend. I've yet to hear him complain about the battery life.

Hi,
I have a white Macbook from a few years back - the A1181 (http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-Mac/406) according to iFixit and want to upgrade the hard drive to accomodate more space.
I'm quite happy fitting it and cloning my old drive but want to make sure i order a compatible drive. I've been looking at this

Can anyone tell me if it'll work in my macbook?
Thanks
Mark

iMovie '11 can deal with AVCHD files, but it converts them to the AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) format for editing. I've found that iMovie's conversion significantly softens the image, so I use VoltaicHD to convert AVCHD to AIC; iMovie then can edit the resulting AIC file natively.
If FCPX natively supports AVCHD, so much the better.

The last line isn't quite correct:
The Windows switches /3GB and /PAE will not make a difference to these limits; they affect the allocation of memory to applications within Windows only.
The switch /3GB does indeed only affect the allocation of memory to applications, but the switch /PAE does allow 32 bit Windows to access more than 4 GB of RAM using Physical Address Extensions (a hardware feature which is how OS X accesses more than 4 GB of RAM in 32 bit mode).
Microsoft has chosen not to implement PAE support in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and (I assume) Windows 7, so there is no way for those OSs to support more than 4 GB of RAM. On the other hand, Windows and 2008 R2 do support PAE, so the 32 bit versions should be able to support more than 4 GB of RAM.
To use the the /3GB switch, the application must be compiled IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS AWARE.
I'd edit the wiki myself, but I do not yet have edit privileges.

In all reality, you want zero pageouts, however, yours are so low I wouldn't really worry. You must BARELY be using more than the 1.5gb of ram you have. What do you use your PM for? I have a dual 2ghz PM and 1gb of ram and zero pageouts. However, the most hardcore thing I've done is safari, firstclass, iChat, iTunes and iMovie/iDVD open and working at the same time. I think once I get Photoshop on there are start using that I might get a few pageouts. That and if I ever get Final Cut Pro I'm sure I will. But, thats neither here nor there since I have what I have and thats all I'll have for a while.

$375? WOW. That is way too much. I paid $360 for an 8gb unlocked and as others have previously stated an 8gb refurb goes for $249. Although you cannot get an 8gb for that price easily, they do have them in stock from time to time and even on ebay an 8gb that is not a refurb can be bough for $325-400 as i've seen them go for that price myself. Maybe you'd be better off offering it in a trade+cash or just lower the price by alot. Just look around and you'll see more or less how much you can really get for it..
