it gets real dusty when working in my studio in the garage.
any recommendations for a keyboard cover, something clear.
also saw something somewhere for a cover that you put over the keyboard when closed and in transit...anyone know what it is... where to get one?
thanks!!

I've really got an itch to buy a new computer - I've had my powerbook 12 months almost and... I just want something new to play with...!
I could easily afford an eMac - if I got an Apple loan, but I've played with lots of those already.
What I'd really like (and could probably stretch to) is an iMac G5. However, I'm not sure if I should wait a little while before buying one - i.e. for Rev B to come out (whenever that would be)... because in my experience Apple seem to fix and potential shortfalls with a computer quite quickly, and so Rev A is not always the best to go for - take the 12" PB for example, the first version had a really slow FSB (i think) whereas my one has a faster processor and MUCH fast FSB, which makes all the difference....
So what do you guys think? Anyone in the UK used their loan service before? Is it worth it - is it good value or should I go somewhere else and stop being lazy!!

Deselect "Show profiles for this display only" and select some other profiles and see if that changes anything.

Supports up to 4GB, darn. Thanks though.
Let me guess... you checked using the serial number method I posted, right? If you had also checked the other two, you would see it supports up to 6GB, even though Apple only says 4GB. I edited my earlier post for clarification.

No mention about safari or does that fall into the "catch all" browser category. <snip>
I'm not sure, but I suspect it does get thrown in that catch-all category, since it uses a different rendering engine from WinIE, MacIE, and Gecko (Netscape-based browsers).

Why not? They seem to try to make their products to be as thin as possible so this would probably be as thin as they can go!

All that for only 120 GB ?
I would say it's more worth the D/L SuperDrive option. I can see maybe if you got an older lappy with maybe 40 GB. But for someone like me with a new 17" with 100 GB it isn't worth much. If you need the space, do it.

That signals to me that you may have synced his apps on to your iPad. Therefore when the AppStore show that it has updates available, it will update your apps (after logging in) and when it attempts to update the other apps (it requires his/hers account log in info as well. Happened to me before and the only way i found to get rid of that annoyance is to uninstall those apps and redownload them while you are logged into your account.

Bootcamp drivers aren't meant to be installed inside a virtual machine because you're not running on a Mac; you're running on a generic PC. You can connect various USB devices to the virtual machine manually, but otherwise, the drivers shouldn't be installed anyway.

daveman got it right. My iBook won't sleep when the scanner is NOT plugged it unless I close the lid or choose 'sleep' from the menu.
With the scanner plugged in, my iBook will sleep if I leave it alone for 1 minute (that's what I have it set for in 'Energy Saver').
Because I don't have my scanner plugged in all the time, I'd like to figure out what is causing this behavior. I'm assuming that it's the scanner driver that keeps the system awake when the scanner isn't plugged in. Maybe it's continuously trying to find the scanner and it doesn't give up.
Has anyone heard of this kind of behavior?

I'm going with an HDD problem on this one.
I took a computer to Apple that was acting the same way, and the HDD was failing.

I'd call up the carrier you're using and have them look into it.

Thank you. I paid 40$ for it, so I don't think I'll sell it anytime soon. It makes a great writing computer, anyways. :)
Another thing the very old PowerBooks are useful for is simple data processing as well (writing reports with data is what I use a G3 for at home (OS 9 ofc - not anything newer - hopefully one day Ill get another old PowerBook - I do miss my old 540...))

I just bought a western digital for the exact computer you are talking about and it's working just fine. I thnk it was $60. at best buy. It's 320gigs.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I did the same thing.
Got a WD 7200rpm 320GB for about $60 on NewEgg. It's very easy to replace the drive.

If you're just wanting to sync smaller files like documents I suggest using dropbox. That's what I use and it works great.
