1. Pages 2 does have an auto-correct feature. It's in preferences.
A major functional snafu is that you can't add auto-correction data from the GUI of Pages, you have to go into the preferences. In Word you are able to right click on your red squiggly word, and you can set a default auto correct right there from the Contextual menu. NeoOffice has the same function. This is sorely lacking from Pages.

Charlie Sheen is on the short track of life ... soon to depart from this world.
Sadly, I have to agree with this.

I'm still wondering what is good about this. I see it as a bad thing. More viruses, more crap shareware, lesser quality products.

Phil Schiller recently that it isn't going to happen. "absolutely not, the R&D would be prohibitive and were not going to do it. Our solution is dual boot." (http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/07/07/windowsmac/index.php) At the same time, they are happy to promote Parallels (http://www.apple.com/getamac/windows.html).
schiller also said i think the day before boot camp was announced that apple wouldn't prevent users from putting windows on the intel macs, but they wouldn't facilitate it either.
apple is notorious for saying one thing and then turning around and doing the exact opposite the video ipod being a perfect example. i'm not saying it will happen, i'm just saying don't put much stock in comments from apple execs regarding future products.

I lost a bigadv unit too. I think they will credit it back but it will take time.
i hope they do. we'll see.
in the meantime, i'm thinking about putting a few video cards in my 2006 mac pro to fold with - since it's only getting like 3500 ppd running the smp client. i know i'll have to run windows to do the GPU2 client for now, but it might be worth it.
does anyone know if this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304) card will work? and could i put 2 or 3 or 4 in there?

Ah- we have plenty of people here in the US, just like you, who insist "fact" and "speculation" are the same things. They are not.
I'm "insisting" that we are dealing with the obvious, So clear cut that I'd consider it reality.

I'd say one of the biggest reasons why Apple won't let flash on iOS is simply because flash doesn't mix well with multi-touch. [...]
The fact is, flash is useful for somethings but is also being used for many things it shouldn't (or would be better suited for something else), flash is everywhere, and personally, I think it needs to die so we can start anew with HTML5 or another codec which fixes Flashes shortcomings.
Well-said on both points. There's a tremendous amount of overlap between the functionality of HTML and Flash. I have a friend who hired someone to make his multi-page website. The site is completely passive: it could have been implemented solely in HTML. There was no upside for the website owner in implementing his site in Flash. The downside is clear: at the very least, there are browser users on 120M+ devices that can't view the website. If you read Adobe's blog entry about their new Flash->HTML5 converter (http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/10/adobe-demos-flash-to-html5-conversion-tool.html), you'll see they get it: the Adobe staffer notes the advantage of having to generate only HTML5: "Cut the cost of targeting multiple runtimes."
Apple is serving to simplify the browser experience for everyone. It's hardly a surprise that some extremists are upset that their sacred cows are being dealt out of the game. They resort to some absurd name-calling (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11453056&postcount=43&highlight=communist+dictator). Those nonsensical complaints will wind down in the next few months. As the Adobe blogger noted (http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/10/adobe-demos-flash-to-html5-conversion-tool.html), Flash Professional used to export Java. Now, the tools will generate HTML5. Life goes on.
If there are outstanding Flash apps for iOS, they can be packaged as iOS apps (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/packagerforiphone/) and distributed through the App Store. I'm personally skeptical those packaged apps will ever be popular on iOS devices. The point is that the marketplace will get to decide: the developers and the users will have a choice.

All this messiness is why when I go Intel, I'll be looking at running the one Windows application I need--FrameMaker--under WINE/Crossover. No Windows code is necessary and thus no problem with licenses, legalities or paying Microsoft up to $300.
And since WINE/Crossover isn't Windows, merely letting Windows applications run under OS X, it isn't troubled by the 200,000 Windows viruses, trojans etc. lurking out there.
Lawsuits for violating some badly written EULA aren't your worst nightmare. Windows on your Mac means Windows viruses on your Mac and that's your worst nightmare.

I spent most of the night last night trying to get gpu2 running in wine on the i7 machine but ran into a problem and gave up. But I have found that the issue may not be with my set up, it may be the wu are bad so I will work on that again tonight to see what happens if I can get a different wu. Here is some info. Could this be the eventual end of usb altogether? No way, USB is cheap and there's no reason to replace them for low bandwidth applications like keyboard, mouse, printers, controllers, etc.

Since I couldn't find it posted yet: not only does the 15" model come with 1 GB standard now, it's also in an 'upgrade friendly' way: 1 x 1 GB instead of 2 x 512. So, if you want to upgrade your memory later, you can do it fully and are not stuck with an extra module.
I've currently got a single 1GB stick in a three year old PB - will that be OK to swap into a new MBP?

I'm going to just assume you are young and have time on your hands. Because when I was young and had time staying trim was quite easy., Let's talk when you're in your 30's and are a busy professional
I used to think that too and I was completely wrong. I used 'being busy with work' as a poor excuse. I absolutely regret it.
He's right - it's a simple formula and one that really takes some discipline...that's all. Just a touch of strength.
I'll also add, some knowledge too. Talking to a trainer with a nutritionist background was critical to my success. Understanding what the body needs based on your activity level, rather than what your MIND believes your body wants, is a small, but massively important factor.
ie. on days I work out, I'll have my protein drink and a massive bowl of oatmeal - topped with a scoop of jam and/or peanut butter and some brown sugar. 1. it's got all the glucose I need after working out and 2. it satiates me until mid-afternoon and then I have a normal lunch. I could go on, but I don't want to drag it.
My point is this: I hear you, I was you, but it's wrong. plain and simple. I normally don't tell people they're wrong so pls don't take offense :)
i'm in my late 30s, 2 kids, the stay at home Dad running his own business and I'm in the best shape of my life. My wife is a financial planner running her own brokerage and she's in fantastic shape. If anything, being in better shape, eating right etc... has made my wife EVEN more successful. She has the energy, her mind is sharp and I believe it's because her 'engine' is running tip top. It's like having an old beat up car vs a new super engine cooled kick butt car - which one is going to go further and more efficiently? :)
That's not to toot my own horn, but to say, it is possible. It has to be a lifestyle change.
And hey, it's 2011 - time to make that change :)
Cheers,
keebler
