My sister cracked her screen and ordered a new one from Ebay with the tools. Unluckily for me it had a phillips and flat-head but no pentalobe. I took a metal file and filed the width of the flat-head on both sides a little at a time and also took a little off the thickness. It now works wonderfully on the 2 pentalobe screws and actually works better on the phillips screws than the phillips screwdriver in the kit. Basically it's just a really small flat-head.

Can a single game get announced these days without someone instantly crying "GOTY!!"? :rolleyes:
I just read through the article. Being someone who thoroughly enjoyed LBP as a jump'n'run game but never had the time to invest in the level-creation part, all this information does very little for me.
There will still be a fun game attached to this whole creation toolbox, I hope?

Hah, they poke fun, but they don't even check that the browser is Chrome for Mac, and that I couldn't use IE if I wanted to?

Looks like the same as the pogo stylus. The iPad can already discern the difference between smaller capacitive stylus input and fingers, but that's all locked to private APIs. All Apple would need to do is open those up.
I have a 21 inch Cintiq and I still wish I could draw on the iPad easily, it would just be too perfect for sketching up ideas.

Anyone else psyched about the Thunderbolt port (http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/) in the new MBPs for their Aperture/Lightroom library external drives?
All this time I've pined for the mythical xMac so I could have access to an eSATA port without shelling out for a Mac Pro. I've even considered getting the big-arsed 17" MBP with the Express/34 slot and a matching eSATA card. Last month I almost ordered a 27" iMac just so I could send it off to OWC to have them do their eSATA port surgery (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/turnkey/iMac_2010_27). :eek:
With the new Thunderbolt port, I can now keep the portability of a smaller MBP but still get much-faster-than-FireWire-800 drives to host my Aperture and Lightroom libraries. (I'll still need FireWire for my recording audio interfaces, at least until Apogee or MOTU make Thunderbolt-compatible audio interfaces.)
Now, if LaCie (http://www.lacie.com/us/technologies/technology.htm?id=10039) or Promise (http://www.promise.com/storage/raid_series.aspx?from=search®ion=en-US&m=151&rsn1=40&rsn3=47) or whoever would just get around to shipping an actual Thunderbolt drive array... :cool:

Having added Komplete 7 to my arsenal, I'm looking for a solution for the 90gb sound library.
Right now I have an iMac--->external FW800 HD--->DUET (FW 400)
plus
MacBook Pro--->external FW800 HD--->DUET (FW 400)
The reasons for using an external drive for recording audio are obvious but where do I add the sound library? It looks like the best solution is to add the programs in Komplete to my internal drive that has Logic and the sample library to an external but I'm already using the external for my recording bin. Is it ok to add the sound samples to the same drive I use for recording? ...or should I daisy chain another drive and use that for the samples? I'm concerned about latency and wonder what would be more taxing, the daisy chain or using the same drive to read samples & also write new recording files? ...keeping in mind my DUET will be at the very end of the chain as its 400...I have concerns about that.
A minor side-note...
If you have a FW drive that has 3 FW ports is it practical to use it as a FW hub? ...for other FW drives that aren't used all the time.

I often make greeting cards for family overseas, birthday, Christmas mostly, but others as well. They like my photos I take.
so far I have used photoshop elements, are there any other mac apps that can create greeting cards that look like they came from the store with my own photos on them, I like making nice lettering on them as well, that I can customize.

That's one of the reasons why I decided to get a logitech keyboard and mouse for my iMac instead of using the Apple ones. They have extra buttons that control itunes that don't require you to have itunes as the top program.
Yes, it's the one thing I miss about my PC's keyboard. It was very handy to have media buttons at the top to control iTunes.
I prefer the Apple keyboard from the feel of the keys, though, so I'll be sticking with one of those.
I'd thought about the menubar option, but I haven't really got enough space - I have too many icons as it is:

What Mac OS X version do you have?
If you have Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard you can reinstall Mac OS X without losing your data and it should restore it to a working OS.
I presume you don't have any backups?
Btw, what method or application(s) did you use to alter the look of Mac OS X?
I have 10.6 Leopard and I have a Time Machine backup from a couple months ago so the only thing I would lose would be some music but a workaround would be nice.
I downloaded a theme that came with a package that installed itself. It worked for a while then I started to notice a problem with iTunes so I restarted so I could go to uninstall the theme and then this started to happen.
Is there any way to reset the theme from startup? Not sure if thats possible but I don't see any other way because I cannot open up Terminal as far as I know.

So you think we could use 1600Mhz Ram with the new i7s?
That would be great news!
*Edit*
I just looked for available 1600Mhz 204pin SoDimms and found those 8Gb Kits selling for 77
Kingston HyperX SO-DIMM XMP Kit 8GB 1600Mhz
So it's basically the same price i'de pay for Kingstons 1333Mhz Ram.
So if just someone could run a test and tell me they are working fine i'de be really happy! ;-)
Sure, you could likely run it. But it's going to run at the slower 1333mhz speed IF the chipset doesn't support it. People typically buy faster ram than what the system is rated at for overclocking.
It looks like the EFI update opened up SATA 3 too.
