Hello there,
This probably isn't the best place to ask, but I can't seem to find a better one :s .
I want to develop an application that has a server and a client side.
Now I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for some documentation on how these two should communicate. (for things like file exchange(this will be least problematic), operational progress, queue's, 'n stuff)
Apple Developer forums don't really have the greatest layout and don't seem to have any place for a general question like this.
I'm not asking for anyone to give me a bunch of pre-chewed code, I'd just like a link to some documentation about this subject, or come API's that I'd probably need in this scenario.
If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful :)
Thanks in advance,
Many Greetz,

hope this hasn't been posted before, as it's already 4 days old news...
penguinppc, the official site of the linux-ppc port, has an interesting entry in their news log:
An interesting email appeared on the gcc patches list: powerpc64-linux altivec support. Combine this news with the upcoming microprocessor forum news and you could come up with some interesting conclusions.

only apple online refurbs have a real 1 year warranty that can be extended to 3 years with apple care. you can search for refurbs from other sellers but they have warranties for no more then 90 days with no apple care option.

After trying Lion DP2, I'm definitely liking the mouse movement better than Snow Leopard (using my Magic Mouse). The response seems more linear, which is a major improvement over the crap SL acceleration curve.
The maximum pointer speed has also been raised, compared to SL.

Try buying TV series instead of illegally downloading them off the net.
Just a tad harsh there. We download and delete within 30 days just the same as is legal on any laptop. Maybe will just download to laptop :)

Hi All,
So I purchased 6 Macintosh Color Classic's for $15 each with Apple IIe cards and Apple Ethernet cards. They are in excellent condition. They came with 60mb HDs. I would like to upgrade the HD with something bigger. What I would like to get is a SCSI to IDE to Compact Card convertor. I have seen some SCSI to IDE convertors. Ideally I would pop in a Compact Flash Card and partition it. What would really be cool is to remove the internal HD and replace it with a Compact Flash Reader and add a slot in the front so I can swap them out and boot.
Do any of you know of a product that will work and have actually used? I know there are some, but I want to be certain it will work with the Classic.
Thanks,
WillGonz

Congrats on the jump. Like you, my first computer was an IBM 8088. Been into computers since. Jumped back and forth over the years. Jumped back when OS X hit v3. After selling my Mac pro's, I bought a 2010 mini. Limited but still useful. Don't think you will have to much of a learning curve. Have fun.

first try the stuff on apple's website
Are you restoring to a custom firmware? (to savebaseband)
You can always try another computer. If your restoring to a custom firmware try dfu mode and if that dosent work pwned dfu mode.
IF NO
just restore to stock firmware by pressing update button in itunes(latest is 4.3.2)

In theory if you dock your iPad, (plug it into your PC) and right click on the name in iTunes you should see an option to restore your iPad, this should in theory restore all data for app store apps, (that support this feature), at this point this is your best option, I think...:)
Good luck,
Good luck,

My black iPhone 4 used to overheat all the time in my car in the summer. Would the white one be less prone to overheating? Anyone has any experience?
This is one of the main benefits of getting the white iPhone 4 over the black version.
In addition to less heat absorbed by sunlight in the car you also get:
- no fingerprints shown
- less competition on craigslist and ebay

Couple of questions. I'm interested in buying a second graphics card for my Mac Pro. I'm running the early 08 model. I am under the impression that in order to effectively use dual cards, one must have matching brands (nvidia or ati) in order to support their "crossfire" or "sli" on a PC. Is there any truth to this on the mac. The second thing I'm interested in is flashing the bios on a windows intended graph card and replacing it with a mac compatible EFI, there's a lot of resources floating around but none of them I've seen say anything about supporting Nvidia cards, all I ever hear about is ATI Sapphire cards. Anyone know if Nvidia is also supported by this flashing process?
Edit: I should probably also state that my intent by running two is to utilize the second card in taking some strain off the first one. I'm running the Nvidia 8800 GT card and being about 3 years old it's starting to run a little hot and heavy even after a very serious de-dusting of the entire rig and cards. I'm worried it's going to crap out and I'd like to go ahead and run two and inevitably move the second one to primary.

Just bought a 750gb WD kit from Macsales online. Install was super easy and now using the old drive as an external drive.
